Leaders and members of the Filipino Community (Filcom) in Modena and nearby provinces in the Emilia Romagna Region of Italy welcomed the mobile consular service (MCS) conducted by the Philippine Consulate General, Milan (Milan PCG), Italy, on Saturday and Sunday, 17-18 March 2018.
The two-day activity, was held at the Istituto Provinciale San Filippon Neri. The eight-man team from Milan PCG was supervised by Consul Mersole J. Mellejor. Welfare Officer Jocelyn Hapal and representatives of POLO/OWWA Milan, SSS and Pag-ibig Fund joined the undertaking.
The MCS team rendered a total of 465 consular services including 301 passport-related operations. Meanwhile, POLO/OWWA Milan, SSS and Pag-ibig Fund attended to hundreds of applicants.
In addition to regular services, the MCS team provided advice and counselling to Filipino nationals. Consul Mellejor also attended a forum of officials of the newly-organized Emilia Romagna Filipino Community, which is composed of organizations from the different provinces of the Emilia Romagna region. The Cultural Section of Milan PCG also organized a showing of Filipino films for the duration of the MCS.
The MCS in Modena is the second such activity conducted by Milan PCG following the one in Turin on 3-4 March 2018 and the first for the Emilia Romagna region this year. It is in keeping with the program of Milan PCG under Consul General Marichu Mauro to bring Post’s services closer to Filipinos in Milan PCG’s jurisdiction.
The MCS in Modena was organized in close collaboration with the Federazione Associazione Filippine di Modena (FEDAFILMO) headed by Mr. Greg Mendoza.
