A total of 63 consular services were rendered during the consular outreach conducted by the Philippine Consulate General in Milan to the Filipino community in Verona last 30 July 2017.
The number is relatively small compared to consular outreach services conducted by PCG Milan in other cities in Northern Italy which is why the community is very thankful to the Consulate for coming to Verona despite the low number of applicants.
Every year, PCG Milan travels to cities all over Northern Italy to render consular outreach. Some cities like Bologna, Turin and Modena are visited several times each year due to a high concentration of Filipinos present in these cities. In cities like Verona where there is a relatively smaller community compared to the others, the Consulate still makes an effort to conduct consular outreach services not only to render much needed public service but also to remain in touch with all the communities within the Post’s jurisdiction.
The Consular team was led by Consul General Marichu Mauro and included a full complement presence of all the attached agencies to PCG Milan namely POLO/OWWA, SSS and Pag-Ibig.
“It is the duty of the Consulate to bring its services closer to the community, no matter how big or small they are in any given place”, Consul General Mauro said. She reiterated that it is very important to touch base with all Filipinos under her jurisdiction in order to know their concerns first-hand.
“Visiting the various communities under PCG Milan’s jurisdiction allows us to have a clearer picture of the needs of the community in general therefore allowing us to adjust and improve our services”, the Consul General said.
The consular outreach to Verona was held back-to-back with mobile services in Vicenza. Both cities are in the Veneto Region of Italy.
