The team from the Philippine Consulate General in Milan attend to a crowd of Filipinos who availed of the consular services
MODENA: A total of 368 services were rendered to the Filipino community in Modena in the first mobile consular service conducted by the Philippine Consulate General in Milan for the year.
The mobile consular service was held over two days from 3 to 4 March 2017 at Istituto Filippo Neri, a local community facility located in the heart of the city center of Modena.
Of the services rendered, 260 were applications for new passports or renewals. The rest were various consular documents. Milan PCG was led by Consul General Marichu Mauro who took the opportunity to further strengthen PCG Milan’s good relations with the Filipino community in the province of Modena. Consul General Mauro led the oath taking of the new set of officers of the Federation of Filipino Community of Modena, and encouraged them to continue to provide support and assistance to the Filipinos in the area.
Modena is located in the Emilia Romagna Region of Northern Italy. It is known for its automotive industry with famous Italian sports car makers Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Maserati whose factories and headquarters are located in town and which employ Filipino skilled workers. The city also hosts several factories of Italian food producing various foodstuffs for all Italy and the world. These factories employ hundreds of Filipinos from Modena.
The Filipino community in the Province of Modena is around 5,000 strong and boasts one of the largest concentrations of Filipinos in Northern Italy.
