The Philippine Consulate General in Milan conducted a one-day consular mission to Rimini on 23 April 2017 at the Parrocchia La Resurrezione, Via Della Gazzella, Rimini, Italy. Partner agencies OWWA and POLO also joined the outreach.
Filipinos from Rimini and neighboring cities and provinces availed themselves of various services, including passport renewals and notarials.
During the outreach, Consul Conrado Demdem Jr. met with officers of the Filipino Community Rimini Chapter (FCRC) led by Mr. Maximino Mercado. He likewise attended the opening ceremony of the annual basketball tournament organized by the FCRC. Before the games, he gave an inspirational message in which he underscored to the young participants and their families the importance of engaging in sports and other productive activities to avoid getting into vices, particularly illegal drugs.
Rimini refers to both the city and province located on the Adriatic coast in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. There are more than 200 overseas Filipinos in Rimini and nearby provinces, many of whom are working as household service workers and hotel staffs. END
